What great use the photographer has made of perspective here. The chosen point of view and focal length make the wildebeest seem almost miniature versions. They seem to be looking intently at the (just landed?) hot air balloon. I really like the framing with the stationary wildlife on one side and the movement of the balloon on the other. For me, the absolute winner.

The turquoise colour of the water contrasts beautifully with the warm-coloured rocks. You can also see perfectly through the water, making it easy to see the structures and patterns there. The beach at the bottom of the picture: that’s where I want to lay down my towel and enjoy this view.

No one looks into the camera, yet all the ladies and children manage to catch my attention. Their looks and facial expressions grab me. What are they thinking about? Are they worried about something? I am looking for answers, but cannot find them in the picture. Yet I remain fascinated by it.
